Irresolute Decisions

Irresolute Decisions

A Poem by Floydina White

Walking down a winding road
I don’t know where it goes
With a raging river besides it
Calmly how it flows!

Journey onward!
A fork has been reached—
A decision must be made
And the river breached

The left or the right
Which one should I choose?
One or the other
It seems I would lose…

The undulating river
Has made up its mind—
It swallowed both forks
Seems I ran out of time…

As I descend to the bottom
(Who bewails the ill-fated?)
The bubbles close over my head
My breath clogged and baited…
