The Game of Love

The Game of Love

A Poem by Floydina White

Who said love was easy?
I find it not a game
What’s the point of “winning”
When I’m always left the same?

To win the game, you must fight fair
And let the rules be known
The cheaters cheat, the cowards bend
And the seeds of destruction are sown…

So what’s the use of having rules
When all knows they’ll be broken?
“Love conquers all.” Ha! What a joke!
‘Tis nothing but a token!

Call me jaded, call me foolish:
I speak naught but the truth.
But playing with you has got me thinking—
Am I just a misguided youth?
