Untitled 2

A Poem by Floydina White

When Love lifts her heavy head
And stops to take a sigh
I look at her and want to scream
“Why won’t you curl up and die?”

“I’m sick of always coming to you—
I’ll no longer be your slave!”
As soon as the words have left my lips
I’d follow her to her cave…

Her cave of heavenly delights
No mere mortal can resist.
Who am I to want to escape?
Her patronage she does insist!

But, who has escaped her wrath
(Unscathed)
In return for her celestial favor?
All the sweet moments we thought would last—
I’ll have forever to savor!
