Looking Down

Looking Down

A Poem by Deegan
"

I was on an airplane flying home from Boston to San Fransisco, but I began to question where home is.

"

You'd think this aerial panorama

Would have me looking down,

You'd think this brilliant sun

Would warm my cold feet,

You'd think these marshmallow clouds

Would have me bubbly with excitement,

You'd think the thought of home

Would have me pulsing with joy.

You'd think so.

But this aerial panorama

Still has me searching for more,

This powerful sun

Still has me running scared,

These enormous marshmallow clouds

Still have me longing to jump,

The thought of home

Still has me questioning everything.

I'm a flightless bird,

Walking an idle street,

Wishing to be heard,

Supposing love isn't for me,

But still,

You'd think this aerial panorama

Would have me looking down
