Twirling Blades

Twirling Blades

A Poem by Deegan
"

In essence, the world works either together or against itself, because we all are part of a whole. And until we see that, we will continue to have discord.

"

Twirling blades of grass, intertwined as one.

Swirling beads of light, descending from the sun.

Whirling gusts of wind, cracking like a gun.

Quarreling little jays, dancing just for fun.

One heartbeat stops, and the world is hard-lined:

Scarred or freed, only together are we sublime.

Harmony has a pulse, alone we are expired.

Far do we reach, at our hopes to be alive.

In this world that we call home, love is not free.

Unless I do from you, you will get no love from me.

Duchess of my life, I just need you to see:

Sunless are our days, as long as we can’t be.

Quarreling little jays, dancing just for fun

i love how this line is so whimsical, joyful, when the previous line is so deliciously violent..

i'm not generally one for rhyming (maybe because it's so opposite of how i write, that i often cringe from it. i admit it, rhyming is not my thang *grin*) but you do it here, with such a soft elegant touch.. really very enjoyable. and the story behind the poem holds up the the opening stanza's poignancy

Your vivid imagery painted a beautiful scene in my mind's eye.

I love the lines:
"In this world that we call home, love is not free.
Unless I do from you, you will get no love from me."

For me, those made the whole poem what it is: perfect.
You refuse the give her your love until she swears that she feels the same.
Guarding your heart, while asking for somene to penetrate that barrier and to touch your soul.
Very good job, my friend.
