Jesus and Tequila

Jesus and Tequila

A Poem by Dee Oddbins
"

pondering on a pint

"
Bleary eyed, consistent
downed another beer,

living within sight
of another drunken fear,

wary hearted waster
tired and tested ways,

ill begotten women
bold but hazy ways,

writing by the moonlight
forgetting where to go,

strange and crazy poems
wild and wacky show,

inclined a generation
to wine women and song,

taking care to disappear
taking far too long

drug related visions
of cataclysmic news

half remembered poems
drunken hay-day blues

living without feelings
for enemy or friend

hoping against hoping
that bittersweet pretend

Gee
Hmmm, don't care to much for either myself. Tequila gives me terrible hang over and Jesus, well, less sai d the better for fear of upsetting folk.
Enjoyed your words Dee. Are you an heiress to the off licence empire ?

That's a great title. Tequila is an after midnight to five in the morning battle of the gods.
Strangely enough, i've woke up to a poem written that made no sense but was actually quite good.
Glad i got through it, hopefully you too.

Excellent rhyming in a somber offering. Last couplet is especially good, indicating the speaker has not totally given up, despite the grim picture painted in the preceding verses. Hope is the midwife of faith.
