Severe city

Severe city

A Poem by Dee Oddbins
"

home town blues

"
Plastic people in plastic land,
steal my hope to bite my hand,
practised hard to mock sincere,
two-tone thought and false veneer
-
Every scheme and every card
to kill the song/hang the bard
wheel and deal, no man escapes
crushing peace your system rapes,
-
Bastardise thy only swine
recollect, then act Devine,
the doubting looks I cast around
rule the world/run to ground,
-
Punish those within your grip,
mundane thoughts/soothing whip,
shallow waters, see through mind
colour coating/ concrete kind,
-
Hide the lies that tied me down
turn the screw, watch me drown,
processed smiles imperfect land,
plastic people/promised land.

Unique imagery and good meter and rhyming really move this one along well. Home towns can often bring out these feelings in creative people. The irony is you can find the same faults in big cities.
