Motivation

motivation comes in pairs

if you're lucky in clove

do this for that- it's simple but it's low

a candle for a pretty flame

a parcel for some dread

a late assignment- whoops, your motivation's dead

staring as the clock ticks by

it's inherent, you've not appeased

begging for approval, hands on knees

a simple little pleasure deep as ice is thick

a prick, a price, a tiny win

the game is waiting to begin

sitting by you lonesome, waiting for a rite 

watching as the screen shows eight words arranged in light

 

"Simply, I cannot bring myself to be alright."

declares the man inside

a careful hope, a hopeful care

the ants crushed by paws of bear.
