Purpose

Purpose

A Poem by DecentlyOkayWriter
"

That light in the dark no one asked for

"
Most people are happy, but there are those who ask
"What? I had to come here against my will and now I have to live..?
COME ON, WHAT GIVES?"
these people tend to go not much of anywhere
living in their mother's basement with unwashed greasy hair
sure, you had to be here, but still you've got to be here for a reason
even if whatever you believe in made you just for treason
there's got to be an antagonist too
for the protagonist to have something to prove-
you've got plenty of potential
whether you are a striving high school dropout
living the best life, bypassing the stereotype
or a washed up modern genius
kicked out of the house because your gay
or an ordinary popular
who's really just a fink-
I really wish you'd think
that no matter what you do, there's something that will change
no matter if it's a cure for cancer
or a smile to make someones day
no matter who you are
antagonist or protagonist
I think life without you would be rather gray
