at night

The world, oh-so-slowly falls asleep

As people tuck into their beds and rest their heads

Blinking slowly off to sleep

As for me, I'm wide awake..

or at least buying my time while I fake it

The lights flicker on, no time to wait

The world, or at least my side of it is in rest

It's my turn to reign and see what I can be-

While I'm nearly asleep.. but oh well

I'm four days past my bedtime, yet

I'm not quite tired.. well.

That's debatable.

My eyelids are heavy, but my thoughts are heavier

I don't get.. no sleep, to be fair.

Quality over quantity.. really.. matters..

I haven't accomplished much yet, so I'm wide awake

I sip from my water, don't want to be late

For my appointment with morning, who's surely far away

Cheers to no sleep, cheers to no wishes

and most of all, cheers to those who have to wake up and do dishes

                               Hope you sleep well, since you have to be productive
