The Juggernaut of Youth

The Juggernaut of Youth

A Poem by Deborah Hamilton

Aren’t you the flower? Expecting truth

And reason as you flit in

The sun.

You will learn how self-serving

Humanity is once you, too,

Decipher your wants.

Sound judgment is impossible if

One’s hair is on fire.

You may notice many dousing

Themselves with lighter fluid.

Beware.

The fewer our years, the more

Numerous our shining stars,

Dim as they are.
