William Wallace

William Wallace was a brave hearted man

He believed in freedom and he took a stand

Against tyranny of the British unholy rule

King Edward Į Long shanks was very cruel

The day the magistrate killed Williams’s wife

He fought till only one was left with his life

He told him to carry a message to his King

This day is the day Scotland let freedom ring

In the year of our Lord 1297 Scotland is free

No more will we bow down to your tyrannies

This fray began in Stirling Bridge I finished it

Now leave it be or the blood will flow free yet

William was ahead of the kings every move up

Known he was to send a flag of peace in a cup

Then to kill all who arrive to talk of this peace

Its how Williams own Father became deceased

Called the hammer and said to be ten foot tall

He said ye arrows shoot from his eyes and all

While fire shoots from his arse don’t you know?

Dubbed Scotland’s greatest patriot, they grow

As Sir Wallace said Scots, what have we bled?

To victory or be welcomed to your gory bed

Till Wallace was betrayed by Robert the Bruce

Behind his back with the King he made a truce

Wallace died in 1305 the Bruce took his sword

As he yelled you bled with Wallace’s final word

Let’s fight will you fight to make Scotland free

As you bled with Wallace now bleed with me.

I was really blown away by the intricate detail and the amount of wonderful flowing lines which relates to our scottish hero.
I loved your choice of lines which really incapsulated how significant WILLIAM WALLACE was to the freedom and folklore status he granted himself as a legend to his country but also of the wicked betrayal by his own bretheren.

I was fortunate enough to visit the historical site in STIRLING last sptember including the monument which marks the spot where the battle of BANNOCKBURN was started being off scottish decent i wanted to pay my own tribute to this wonderful event.

If you like scottish history and you have a passion for reading romantic stories then perhaps you might want to indulge in reading my short 3 part tale entitled FLAME OF THE HIGHLANDS which is set in the latter part of the 17th century and features the life and times of THE MARQUIS OF MONTROSE and his beautiful flamed haired wife ISOBELLE passions will be aroused and auld scottish language will be written as i take the reader on a historic journey in to a time long forgotten but always cherished.Take care

It is hard to objectively review this writing because I
revere the memory of William Wallace. He fought tyranny
and he lay dieing at the hand of the enemy, Wallace had
won his last battle. Tortured and slain, they could only
hurt his body, his spirit would never surrender.

This is a beautiful and sad story, but one that has been
well told in this poem.

Brilliant writing !
