My Greatest Wish

My Greatest Wish

A Poem by Debra Stevens Edwards (debby)

'My Greatest Wish'

If I could be granted just one wish,

On this bright new Christmas Day.

I would wish for Love enough,

To blow all hate and wars away.

I would fill each heart with joy,

To share with those they meet.

We would make a peaceful world,

To gratefully lay it at your feet.

Still only you can do this Lord,

I bow to your will in word and in deed.

Maybe I could be the tool,

You use to plant the seed.

My greatest wish is Love,

With the faith of a child.

Like the love of the Father,

For the baby meek and mild.

I tend to agree that there are more good people than bad, it's sad how the bad ones ruin it for the rest of us. And yet there is hope... and love... let there be peace. Thank you for sharing this wonderful poem. Debileah

Such a poignant piece. I suspect man has wished for peace from the beginning of time. I believe with all my heart, there is more good than bad...more good people than bad. Therein lies the hope. Great piece. Rain..
