Counting My Blessing

A Story by Debra Stevens Edwards (Debby) Http://www.myspace.com/green_eyez1of6

I count my blessings before I kneel down to pray,
and thank God for the Blessings He brings my way.

We all have days that it seems we've had enough.
Ask and He will help you in times that are Tough.

Days when I'm very sick and feeling beyond repair,
Then He lifts me up with strength enough to spare.

He has blessed me with six girls who think I'm great.
I tried to teach them all things before it's too late.

As I close my eyes to sleep I wonder if I did all I could,
to help my fellow man in every way as I know I should.

If I'm weak God is My Strength, My Lord and My Friend.
He is My Savior; He is My King He will be up till the end.

When my time on this earth is through I hope that I fulfill,
all the things You ask me to and live according to Your Will.

Thank you again for the merciful things that you always do.
What a Blessing just to be of some small way a service to you.
Amen

Reminds me of how I was in a church at a wedding a couple of years ago and found myself reading the hymns in the book on the pew. The language of some of them was pure poetry of a kind we seldom see today. But your poem is in that tradition and given the right mind, mood, and moment, inspiring as the message is entirely positive.

Lovely and heartfelt! We should all remember such things everyday. When we can not walk there is always that One to carry you whether you realize it or not. Thank you for sharing such endearing words.
Light,
Siddartha

Debby, this is breath taking. Counting our blessings is so very important even in the midst of our trials. Especially in the midst of hard times. Helps us to regain focus. We have been counting a whole lot of them as of late as He has been answering prayer after prayer.

I count my blessings before I kneel down to pray,
and thank God for the Blessings He brings my way.

What a message this is sending. We all need to hear this. Great rhythm and rhyme, lady. So glad I read your poem this morning before church.

Hugs, me
