Life Is What You Make It

Life Is What You Make It

A Poem by Debra Stevens Edwards (debby)

Life is what we make it, in our own way.

The choices we make throughout each day.

Shape how we live as well as our reactions.

To life’s road blocks and other distractions.

When you look at the world what do you see.

Death and destruction of human’s vile decay.

Are you someone who will see it this sad way?

Or do you still find simple beauty all around.

Do you still find nature’s beauty so profound?

Will you share your smile with those who pass?

You’re the only one who can choose to bypass,

The things you do throughout your own walk.

For me it’s easy, I chose to walk with Gods talk.

Debbie, how true..A lot of people see only the ugly things in this world that God has made..He made it beautiful..man has turned it into what it looks like today..I think every one sometimes needs a vacation from their selves and just go back to the natural..and look at the beauty and peace around you in a place made by the Master's Hands..a child's smile, a butterfly, a pond with ducks, the setting sun, the mountains, the clouds floating by on a warm summer day..it is just too easy to take for granted that these things will always be..Stop and talk to God..I like that..God bless Valentine

This is beautiful, Debbie. I think for survival sake we need to focus on the good, with all of the negativity that surrounds us on a daily basis. If I get to thinking too much about our world situation, it can be very depressing. This is very upbeat and teaches us to see the good in both our world and in others. At least that's what I got out of it....Hugs, carole

It is very uplifting to come across with a poem like this which is full of inspiration and optimism. I thank God for allowing me to befriend a talent like you; you are one of the motivating forces in this chaotic world.

This poem is so very encouraging. You are very right when you say that we have the choice to look at the positive in our life or the negative. We have been given a huge gift of free will. You show how much easier it is to walk in joy oppose to having a pity party.
You continue to share such inspiration as your spirit shines so very brightly! So grateful for you and your God given gifts that you share. ~ J

I really like the content and message behind these words. I guess we are all different but personally I like to look at the good, it is where I find inspiration.

Nice write my friend.

It's a very pretty poem, but you know, I'd like to see you open up and do some non-rhyming poetry...a little stream of consciousness type writing. Do you ever try that?
