The Last of the StarmakersA Poem by Debby Pillitteri
Purple rain trickled on my window
Twas a mini action movie In for my eyes. Staring off in disbelief At that tip-tap noise But now my body shakes As my jacket draws closer With the zippers you play with As we lay on the ground Faces face-up As we gaze on and out At the empty sky around us Lazily, surrounding us; No more excitement, No more enjoyment, As the memories flood, As you lean in and whisper, "We are the last of the starmakers."
