A Pleasant Visit

A Pleasant Visit

A Poem by Debby Pillitteri
"

Elegy of my Grandpa.

"
"Beautiful, just beautiful."
Setting down the photo,
Yeah, it sure is nice to see him alive,
Nonno, me and Nonna.
That's the way I'll always remember him.

Sweet dreams and before I even do,
He's there!
I've only closed my eyes and he's there!
Waving his left hand, peculiar!
I've never seen him since!

How come you got that on?
That red and white striped polo, Gramps.
What they got you wearing in Heaven!?
You look peaceful.
You look like you can breathe.

Can I hold your hand there, Grandpa?
Just one time?
Please?
There we go.
I don't want to let go.
