~ The Unmasking ~

~ The Unmasking ~

A Poem by Debbie_Philly

THE UNMASKING

Lives laced with indiscretions the dance has begun.

Liars take the lead my muse sings the song.

Deception pierces the psyche wavering on the

edge of insanity.

The muse has been unmasked reveled is his

morbid soul. Contents purged of it’s deceitfulness.

Lost love’s obscure, soul mate obsolete in this

malignant web of duplicity.

Cruel heartless muse , why do you ridicule

your beloved? Fixation on unattainable acceptance

Chasing contaminated dreams that render you

inadequate of ever knowing truth.

Truth in life, love and real undying loyalty.

Incapable of true intimacy , bewitched is your

brain by meddlesome hags.

Your thirst will be unquenchable all your days

and lonely apathetic nights.

My muse has been unmasked, seen for what he

really is. I wish him well on his journey for love.

My heartbroken soul wonders aimlessly through

this realm. Numb, disillusioned concealed in a shell

TRUST may never enter my world again.

Wow, this is extremely powerful and so well conveyed. What an effective opening line..this piece doesn't have a wasted word and I could feel every word of it. Trust..and love lost is very difficult at times..you outdid yourself here. Very well written..

Eloquent delineation of the dearth of Good Company. Most people, much less lovers, are having more of a relationship w/their own egoic projections onto the other, anima/animus, than they are having an open-eyed, open-hearted connection with Life streaming thru the integral other. Since the mirror effect is so extant, we really have no recourse but to challenge ourselves to the identity core. There is much genius texturizing many people. There is also a banal insistence on self-sabotage at an unconscious level, absurdly prevalent. The cure for trust issues is insight. Know yourself to the point of transcendence and see if anybody Real shows up.

Wow, so very sad, to lose trust is an awful feeling to consume the heart. You have captured that feeling well in this beautiful yet meloncholy poem. Very nice Debbie.

:) yes best part about it ...;)
At times it's easy to wonder if we can ever truly know another person at all....perhaps if we were all writers ? ;). Scary thought, that.....

Well written. Heavy with the weight of your emotion.

Thank you :)
This is very powerful and worded so nicely. Its almost as though the speaker is questioning their own poetic talent, and as a fellow poet its a feeling we can all empathize with. Very nicely done.

I hope the last line is proven wrong.
To be disillusioned by love..such a common occurence. We want to believe in it so much, we ignore the ugliness and the lies within.

Love the piece. It's a heart-wrenching read, and the picture you picked is the perfect visual for the piece. Nice work overall.

No problem at all.
This is powerful, dramatic, tragic .. so many words, so many emotions. Not sure if it would really be cathartic, but maybe helped to express thoughts, feelings, locked inside. Maybe you share to see how others interpret your pain, your loss, because it is such a loss; to discover someone's cheating is a knife in the back .. but, but .. who knows the future.

Not sure i appreciate the picture like you and Elisa do, its meaning hurts my eyes, which, yes, is selfish of me but.. Your writing is so varied, each time i read a piece I'm left with a lingering taste.
