AWAKENING

AWAKENING

A Poem by Debbie_Philly

Awakening

I don't know where I am anymore

where I am to be, what to be

Standing on the edge of yesterday

and tomorrow.

I sit here breeze blowing, salt air

tickling my nose awakening my senses

I'm relaxed yet dulled, I cant feel it.

The excitement that used to jump up

off the sand and grab hold making me

feel whole.

No more moon wishes, no more boy

dangling down from the crescent sphere

to take my hand.... just memories

The days have gone by, I don't know

them anymore and they don't know me.

It scares me to death.

I need to be in that place where life

breathes nostalgia into my soul

and turns my worlds upside down.

Something to shake things up.

My absolution never comes this night.

I smell the salt air, I feel the breeze

it's comforting yet I'm still dulled do

I retrace my steps ....... or make new ones .

The title caught my attention, but this piece kept me glued in. I loved the flow, and I realize just how difficult it can be to keep up such a fast pace. Powerful and emotional poem, touching, and something that everyone can relate to at one point in time. A line that I really liked is, "I need to be in that place where life

breathes nostalgia into my soul

and turns my worlds upside down." That is just wonderful, that is what so many of need. Excellent piece, thank you for sharing.

What a haunting picture of depression. The damge done to the senses can truly be debilatating. I can really relate to this. I'm working through a great many of these very issues. Retracing steps....trying to make new ones....tough sledding on both scores. Good write Debbie

Shivers all over... you nailed the perfect feeling of being lost, and felt the purity of nothing. You looked so well and deep into the "you" at the time you wrote this. I only can admire such poetry even more! mesmerizing sad, but wonderfully done!
