LAST NIGHT ON EARTH.A Poem by Chris RampersadJust wanted to make you think.
I walk out onto the porch tonight, And looked up at that meteorite, I no longer look in dread, I've made peace with what lies ahead, My kids, they are so young, They know not of what will come, I breathe in the cool night air, I savour it, For tomorrow I wont be here,
I hear the announcer on the radio saying what we all know, That they couldnt stop that rock traveling the sky, He went silent as he started to cry,
I walk into my kitchen now, And there sat my love quietly humming a song, SHE'S SO STRONG. I thought in pride, As she looked up at me and bravely smiled, Her lips they quiver and i squeeze her hand, I hug her and stroke her hair,
We went over to the children's room, And lay in bed together with them. And silently listened to them sleep, A tear glistened in the moonlight there, As it rolled down my loves cheek. I wipe it off and kiss her forehead, And we hugged our kids tightly as we lay in bed, Tonight is our last night on earth, HOW WILL YOU SPEND YOURS? © 2013 Chris RampersadReviews
