Barbed Wire

A Poem by Death's Poet

Running to the mail
A letter from you

It cheers my whole day
They always do

I get in the door
And open it with care

I read the first page
And stop and stare

You're having a bad day
Hurting a lot

I want to hug you
But a letter's all I got

I wish I could help
Just come over a while

But I never can
You can't even see my smile

So I pen an "I'm sorry"
But it isn't enough

Because separation
From a loved one is rough
