You never grew up

You never grew up

A Poem by Death's Poet

Age 3:
Wow you were perfect
How I looked up to you
My love for you, was so fierce
And so true.

Age 6:
I'm a third of your age now
Which is weird in a way
But you're still more perfect
I love you more day by day.

Age 9:
I'm half your age now
And so much more in love
You're everything wonderful
Angel ascended above

Age 12:
It's been almost a decade
Since that first time you graced my eyes
Drowning in a love I can't explain
My soul mourns and cries.

Age 15:
We are both teenagers now
You should be here with me
But you're not
Nor can you ever be

Age 18:
Well. We are the same age now
I've looked up to you for 15 years
And now I've caught up
I can't stop my tears

Age 19:
Now I'm at an age you never got to be
I keep growing up, and you froze in time
But I'll never leave you behind
And I struggle to make this last line rhyme

Because all I want to say is, why couldn't you grow up too?

to make the last stanza rhyme I would suggest adding in a line between your second and third line. for instance; "Now I'm at an age you never got to be: I kept growing up, and you froze in time: Even now I should say goodbye: But I'll never leave you behind"
