Losing Lucy

Losing Lucy

A Poem by Death's Poet

Pain like a flood
Tears, screams, blood

One minute here
In the next an angel, a tear

Heart broken on the floor
Precious Lucy ours no more

grab at the sink, but fall to the ground
And pray to die, for your loss to be found

This is a great dark sad poem. I am glad you shared it with us. I read your profile and how you destroyed your first writing, I am glad you memorized it. I made a promise many years ago to someone to never destroy something I wrote, I implore you to make that same promise to yourself or someone.

Well done

You did a great job with this poem. The quick, almost indirect and scattered tone you used throughout was brilliant; it perfectly captured the dissonant mindset that can form from unbearable sorrow. Also, the way you "illustrated" hopelessness was amazing: Grab at the sink, but fall to the ground/ And pray to die, for your loss to be found--those lines vividly described human despair. Great job. This poem is almost too good.
