Matter

Matter

A Poem by Death's Poet
"

Inspired loosely by Glowing Screens by Watsky

"
There are billions of us
And you think you matter

Theres always some one more of something
Prettier, uglier, skinnier fatter

So what you were the prom queen
There were a billion more

What makes you who you are is struggle
And the soul down in the core

See with billions of other people
Sometimes we feel faded out

So what if you arent perfect
Thats nothing to worry about

Because all the flaws and scratches
Are what makes you you

You have the audacity to matter
Because you really do.

This is a very cool write SP. The title I thought would lead to a scientific type poem on matter - which is okay by me and the poem was a pleasant surprise when it became clear it wasnt that use of 'matter'.
I like the style of this and the sentiment. Its uplifting and positive without putting others down to achieve it.

This gave me a little stumble -
"What makes you who you are is struggle
And the soul down in the core" - I feel that the minimal change required would be italicising the word 'struggle' for readability and a change to the second line of 'the soul' to 'your soul' - just suggestions though.

The final couplet is a cracking 'So take that' ending - a finger snap finish.
Nice one. Thanks for the RR

"What makes you who you are is struggle

I really like those lines and they are deep... lots of meaning behind those. Many people feel when they are cuter or prettier than most that they are special and some of those people become arrogant jerks. What really matters is what you become when you break free from the struggle. Awesome words :)

Thanks alot Aaron :) I'm glad the message came across as strongly as I was felt them
Loved the lines
What makes you who you are is struggle

And the soul down in the core
And another point I liked is nobody is perfect and there is no need to be perfect just keep improving yourself. A nice motivational poem.
