Thoughts of the Broken

Thoughts of the Broken

A Poem by Death's Poet

She weighed out each word, terrified of what to say
Worrying any wrong word might drive him away

"I love you" he said, Oh but was it true?
She believed but she worried, as most broken girls do

With each moment of quiet her heart stopped to beat
Worried one day, her mouth would cause her own defeat

With him her heart sang, he gave her wings to fly
But she knew once he left, her light would die

For every touch from him fixed her cracks
He held her in his arms when the world turned their backs

She worried, because without him she wouldnt survive
For with him, now she knew how it felt to be alive.

This is incredible, and very relatable. To me it really shows how powerful love is and how destructive it is as well. My favorite was when you wrote "But she knew once he left, her light would die" because I have recently gone through the exact feeling. Very powerful, true and relatable. Beautifully written. I love it.

Beautifully written.....expressing raw sentiments so true of such a situation. I think you probably meant to use "quiet" in line 5 instead of "quite"? :)
