I killed 100's in Battle

I killed 100's in Battle

A Poem by AcasualPawn
"

I killed 100's in Battle

"
In the name of country,
& for the sake of survival.
I killed 100's in battle.

There were noises of weapon,
& cries of agony and pain,
but, i was banned to hear them.

There were sight of blood,
& eyes filled with hope and desire,
but, i was banned to see them.

There were blank and afraid expressions,
& heart with resolve to return home,
but, i was banned to show humanity for them..

I killed, i killed and i killed,
their was nothing more to it.
I traded mine happiness by destroying their.
I traded mine life by destroying their.
I destroyed them and their family.
All, in the name of country,
& for the sake of survival.

Instead for god's punishment i got human glory,
but why i don't know i was feeling sorry,
Sorry for past me whose beliefs are destroyed, and whose sole aim now is to survive.
Survive in this brutal world,
till the end of my life..

SSR,
"I killed 100's in Battle"
This felt like a poem which shows the result of a world which has turned it's back on personal and moral absolutes.
Many have written on the subject of battle-war. Humanity is the cause of skirmishes, hatred, intolerance, prejudice, etc.
This world is flawed and full of evil.
This was a poem which shows the beauty of people as well as the wickedness.
Will we finally destroy ourselves?
Blessings, to you in your life and writing.

Reading this brought to mind our great India Epic of Mahabharatha.. Arjun was in a similar emotional state, unable to raise arms against his near and dear ones till Lord Krishna reminded him of Rajdharma or the righteous battle. Perhaps, sometimes...evil has to be battled and so war becomes a sad but necessary evil.

War poetry is in need. World really go blind. People cannot see how war affect not just soldiers, but also children ,women and old people. I wish there will be no war . Your poem strongly say what is war about. What kind of personal feelings can soldier can have . During and after the war. Well done.

Thanks tracey
Not many poets pay tribute to the trials and tribulations of war so I was thrilled when I can across this poem. The inner battle verses the external battle, the trauma of bloody and gore compared to the mental guilt's and insecurities. (Instead for god's punishment i got human glory) I love this line it tells a whole story in its self, masterfully done, Bravo! I give it five out of five Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap! Clap!

Thankyou for your kind words sir......
No-one win in war. My dad had many medals for killing from the Korea war. He lived with lost friends and killing many. I went to war and I learn. Great government use the youth for self-gain. Powerful words and thoughts in the poetry. Left the reader with a lot to think about.

Thankyou miahstr ,iam glad you like it..
Wars are a waste of time. Leading to nothing but unnecessary destruction. I guess this was written from a soldier's point of view. Yes...that's how they feel. Cold, heartless during the war...and later on, the guilt inside killing them. Well written.
