Are We As The Forest?

Are We As The Forest?

A Poem by Deathless_Sorrow
"

I've always like this one.

"
I wonder if we are as the falling leaves.
Slowly floating to the ground,
Faded from our brighter colors.
Worn from our love.

Or are we as trees?
Always strong,
Always still,
Only in the beginning do we sway,
And as the cold sets in we crash to the forest floor.

Maybe we are as the flowers.
Quick to bloom and grow,
Easily crushed and hard to maintain,
Always shadowed by others.

If not any of the above,
We are as weeds,
Cannibalistic and parasitic,
Feeding off of others sorrow and pain.

I can imagine someone just sitting in nature after having had an exhausting week dealing with all sorts of people, just come to relax in repose. The imagery is strong and the structure and presentation of each stanza is concise. The one thing a would probably reconsider is all of the full stops. I think it would be more powerful if let to flow more like natural thought.
