Solitude

Solitude

A Poem by Norwayout
"

Who knows what's Trapped Inside? What might one Release?

"
All His life
Forced to hide
Seek the dark
Stay inside

All about
Did he roam
Fully prepared
To die alone

With no goals
Lacking purpose
He forever lost
His will to surface

Hardly willing
To draw a breath
Idly waiting
He prayed for death

Very rarely
Visitors came
Each and every time
It ended the same

Get out of this house
Each did demand
Clearly they would
Never understand

Staying inside
Fueled his rage
But the beast within
The house did cage

Foulest creature
Sight to behold
Smirking scowling
Bitter and cold

Loathing happiness
Despising joy
Hating smiling girls
And laughing boys

Twas not violent
But make no mistake
Hidden within
A coiled snake

Needing not to
Lift a finger
Dealing damage
Hurt that lingers

No one safe
Old or young
All fell victim
To its tongue

Needing never yell
Scream or shout
It simply spread
The seeds of doubt

Cruel and clever
Cunning rife
Ever eager
To ruin a life

He was forced
To sit and watch
As all his plans
It did botch

Further apart
Visits grew
Deeper inside
He withdrew

A constant state
Of crippling woe
Time drew on
He grew low

At long last
He lost hope
Finally reaching
The end of his rope

Collecting his thoughts
He set to the task
Made many attempts
This would be his last

He’d been saving pills
His purpose they’d serve
Took far too many
He’d not lose his nerve

Fearing it a failure
Feeling a dunce
Reaching for more
They hit him all at once

A sudden chill
Growing malaise
His vision blurring
Fell into a daze

Stomach in knots
With veins on fire
He fell to his knees
Starting to perspire

Curled into a ball
Writhing in pain
Wishing it would end
His vision waned

Body bowing out
Bested by the pills
He took his last breath
His weak heart stilled

Into a coma
His body slipped
Clinging to life
His mind adrift

After many days
Finally he stirred
Eyes fluttered open
Roused by morning birds

Eager to be off of
The unforgiving board
He rose to his feet but
Not of his own accord

He tried to scream
His mouth agape
Gave it all he had
But no sound escaped

With a beaming
Smile of pride
He watched as it
Strolled outside

Left behind the house
Starting a new age
Locked inside his mind
The beast freed it's cage
