The Mirror of TruthA Poem by Dearld_RothTake a Real Look At YourselfI sit in a lonely room with only a mirror and my reflection I gaze deeply into the mirror, Trying and find the words to describe myself. I open my mouth but nothing comes out, I start to doubt who I really am. Stunned in the silence, I hear my own voice, "you give up to easy" I look up and it appears as the mirror is no more, Just a figure that resembles myself. It is no longer my reflection, I see myself. The true me. No bullshit. No lies. The person I really am, and who I want to be. I start to speak again but nothing. My true self starts whispering little white lies I have told my self over time “It's only once, it can't hurt.” “He/She is only a friend.” “I never lied to you.” “I'm happy with my life.” I don’t believe these lies to be true! Have I convince myself that I am living a lie? With strong convection my reflection breaks the silence. “Prove to me that you are who you believe to be! Touch my hand, if I remain then you are who you say you are. However, if I break, every piece, every sliver, every shard the falls to the ground represents a lie that you have convinced yourself to be true.” © 2012 Dearld_RothAuthor's Note
