A short poem-like story about the original jock in highschool that rules the school. Only thing that's unoriginal is he's secretly in love with one of the kids that he bullies.

Cover Up

I like you.

But I can't tell you yet.

You're moving next month.

I want to tell you so bad but I'm gaurded.

You wear glasses and braces and you do your homework.

You're second ranked in our whole class.

I'm seventh. 

I can't tell you I like you because you too are a male and our school is against homos.

It's just not normal, they say.

What is normal these days?

My friends make fun of you. Sometimes I join in.

Even though I want to punch them. 

You usually start crying and run to the boys' restroom.

I'm so so sorry. Come back.

But you're already down the hallway.

Today someone threw you in the trash at lunch.

I walk up slowly. You look super cute.

I want to kiss you so bad.

I put my hand out and you grab it.

Butterflies.

"Hey, Colin!" I hear. 

S**t, they're gonna see me.

I push you back in the can and laugh.

"Nice, Colin!" says Quarterback Johnny.

I hear you whimper.

I'm sorry, Kaleb. I'll make sure they're gone next time.

I walk off, leaving you hurt and alone.

So sorry.

You look at me in homeroom.

Those pure light blue eyes.

But you're sad.

You blink twice and Steven, my former friend, comments on how you're staring at me.

"Are you checking Colin out? You queer, boy?"

He's not queer, Steven. I am.

Class laughs at you.

I cover my face.

S**t. I'm blushing.

I peek through my fingers, you're blushing too.

Stupid Steven.

He pats my back.

"He likes you!" He grins.

Does he?

Really? Do you like me, Kaleb? Tell me. Yell it.

Then you run out the room, embarassed.

I walk out.

You're sitting against the wall.

I stand over you. My heart's racing.

"Kaleb, I--"

You stand up and get in my face.

Steven's leaned up against the door frame.

"You ruined my life, Colin."

Steven laughs obnoxiously.

And I die.
