Staircases.A Poem by nora"Shattered pieces that may never be replaced." -Three Cheers for Five Years, Mayday Parade.
Staircases.
Steps.
Are they wooden? Marble? Stone?
No.
They are paper,
Flimsy and weak.
But up I must go.
I must free myself
From the bonds of this Earthy ground.
Ascending on this unstable
Material.
Dangerous,
Suicidal, even,
It may seem.
But this risk,
It is one I am willing to take.
For the reward will be great,
Once,
At the end of this treacherous staircase,
The sun I will see.
I will peek above this canopy of
Heavy dark clouds,
And feel the sunlight
At last.
