Staircases.

Staircases.

A Poem by nora
"

"Shattered pieces that may never be replaced." -Three Cheers for Five Years, Mayday Parade.

"

Staircases.

Steps.
Are they wooden? Marble? Stone?
No.
They are paper,
Flimsy and weak.
But up I must go.
I must free myself
From the bonds of this Earthy ground.
Ascending on this unstable
Material.
Dangerous,
Suicidal, even,
It may seem.
But this risk,
It is one I am willing to take.
For the reward will be great,
Once,
At the end of this treacherous staircase,
The sun I will see.
I will peek above this canopy of
Heavy dark clouds,
And feel the sunlight
At last.

Okay, this one just came to me. Tell me what you think. I know it's a little different from what I usually write.

I enjoyed this piece. Full of a hope, a promise. There seems to be a mix of both joy and pain here, but the mix is well done.

:) I see this as the law of life, You need to climb the paper staircase (something weak, that could fall apart at any moment.) To get to the good things on this earth. Whereas, if you take the 'safe' way and stay at the bottom of the staircase you'll not get anywhare. but i guess you'll be safe... (and bored)

Just my interpretation. : D

I think this poem could easily be about school. Because after all, school really is a staircase of papers that leads to a great reward at the end. I like how you captured the feelings of discontent towards it but a feeling of necessity. Great poem.
