Twisted Metal, Broken Glass and Wood

Twisted Metal, Broken Glass and Wood

A Poem by DearSweetAgony

Little shards of sharp diamond fell from the clouds

The wind accompanied the downfall

sending little knives through the air

God roared his declaration of havok upon the small city

The lighting lashed upon the unlucky ones

Debris flew for miles and miles

Broken debris and broken bodies

"Where were you when this happened?"

"Me? Wel, I wuz in that backseet of my mamas car when the tornado happnd.

My mama swears that she wuz doin ahundred tryin to get to the rest of hur babies.

And I was just watchin it all.. thoo my window.")

"Where were you when this happened?"

"I member the sky wuz the cullor of a dark gray in the midmornin..

By the afternoooon it mIght as well hav been night

Only starless...only starless.."

Today, I walk along the path of what remains

Its beautiful outside and I best leave before curfew

Milo's is gone

Biglots is gone

Hobby Lobby is gone

There are no remains

No leftovers

No nothing

Just twisted metal, broken glass and wood

Author's Note

DearSweetAgony
Just my way of venting I suppose.
This poem...or whatever this is, is about the tornado in Alabama.
And what I went through.

This poem was a cry for help in all of its destruction.
Empathy is injected into every line. One can not care
but feel a need to help.

This is very moving - you sound traumatised, and who wouldn't be? Great writing.

This is really nice, even if you were venting. I love the song "21 guns". By Green Day, right?
