A Story by Taylor Kellan
"

Short. Simple. Weird.

"
I awoke last night to the smell of the acid in the rain.
My thoughts are awakened one by one, in order as they appear.. Fear. Last night’s taste is still lingering on my tongue.
Love. My palms are still as sweaty as they were seven hours ago. Hate. The clock reads 6:15.. It’s never struck a minute before or after since the rain began.

My pulse begins to race.. I close my eyes.
I count the beats out loud to myself as if it were a childish game.
“One”
The glass shattered.
“Two”
The candle went out.
“Three”
The rain stopped.
I opened my eyes to see your face. Your feverish grin reflected off of every broken piece of the mirror sprawled against the floor. I closed my eyes again to ignore the sight of your skin.
You were dead four days ago.

Wow, weird but good. This has a real eerie feel to it, as though she has just realized that time for her, in that episode has slowed down due to the reality that has set in. Nice job.
