A Chapter by Rae

I felt so powerful. Now there was no way she would beat me. I had the same type of phone as her, so I used my USB cord to upload the conversation onto my laptop. This plan couldn't possibly fail.

"Hey, Mom, can you come here for a second?"

        "Yeah, just a minute."

        "Okay."

        "Alright, what's up?"

"I know who landed Dad in the hospital."

"Honey, it was an accident. It's nobody's fault."

        "Mom, yes, it was."

"Haley, you need to get off of this subject."

"But, Mom, she nearly killed him! Even if he is your ex-husband, he's my only father! I won't let it go!"

"Fine then. Who was it, Haley?"

        "Mila!"

"Haley, she's married to him. Why on Earth would she do that?"
"Here. Read this. Here's your proof."

"Haley, where did you get this?"

        "I stole her phone."

        "You did not."

"Oh, yes I did." I pulled the phone out of my back pocket.

"Haley Amber! Why would you do that?!"

"Because I knew she was guilty. Now read, woman! Then you can understand." She read extremely quickly to my surprise. I thought that for sure all of the drunken nights and months would've affected that.

"Oh my gosh! Haley, how did you know?"

"Mother, I can read people, not just books and lyrics."

"Well, we have to tell somebody! Uncle John! He's a cop, he'll lock her up!"

"Now you see why I've always had such a strong disliking towards her. Stupid bottle-blonde demon."

        "She dyes her hair?!"

"Yes. And those blue eyes are fake, too. They're colored contacts. Speaking of those..."

"Haley, I told you, I'll think about it."

"Mom, my eyes are hideous! They're green!"

        "So are your father's."

"But I want BLUE eyes, Mom!"

"Fine! We'll go get them tomorrow."

        "Yay! Now, about this hair..."

"One step at a time, Haley."

        "Yes, mother."
