Black Rose

Black Rose

A Poem by Deandra Dawn

Black Rose

Black rose
thorns reaching out
pricking
drops of blood
falling upon
wounded flesh
petals decrepit
dried out
falling upon
a serrated edge
of vicious insanity
acquiring control
weeding out weakness
Black rose
left to shrivel
an insincere gesture
of gratitude
denied
forcing my hand upon
an innoxious stance
peeling away at the flower
of time
crushing the fragments
into a dark powder
to be blown away
into the early
twilight
