The Journey

The Journey

A Poem by Deandra Dawn

THE JOURNEY

A journey into endless agony
feeding off of meager mortality
peppered with unsubstantiated rivalry
spotted with unrealized generosity
the path taken, though, was clear
the souls saved, so very dear
crucified for a horrible injustice
confusion reigning over justice
a humanitarian throughout the years
they all laid blame on ungodly fears
diminishing worth in a world of hypocrisy
left to rot when only in search of equality

To paint the picture set in my mind, this makes me think of a young Irishman on a boat headed for the land of liberty. Leaving the rocky roads to Dublin, the people, the music, the land of his birth.

For something better, looking on the sea, all the young man of Keeran, looks at a small bible, pack from 'Ma' and a hope for a new world.

Always visual, always charming, and always bringing this reader to a new place.
