Another Time

Another Time

A Poem by Anthony M. Barajas

The silence is deep
I can hear the sounds
inside my mind
As the river rushes
So does my blood
And the world it seems like
Another time
When my eyes caught the glances
Of who you were

But that's nothing been since
The waves of her hair
Seem to curl up against
My face
And the smell of her roses
Has yet to remain

The doorsteps is where
the only fault I had left
When she moved away
From all the things
I had yet to say
And the chance I took
Was just the push
You needed
To leave anyway

But these words
I fear for you
The simple complexes
As it is understood
Can break the sources
Of the defect
That shatters the contra
Of my world

But there it lays
Exposed to you
The only thing I thought
I could give to you
It breaks so easy
It was frail then
When I meet you
Stronger it grew
As I began to know
What it felt to be in love
But as soon as it did
You left behind
A total mess
It barely speaks to me
It knows not
