TractionA Poem by Dylan RhodesWe question why people are so ruthless when it comes to love. We never once noticed that its because we made them that way. You never know you love somebody until you find yourself lost without them.
This is the tapestry of a civil society
Watch and follow me as I nash my teeth on the hand that over-feeds Interwoven minds have chosen time to create binds between what is mine and everybody else's dream All fall under the same category in this sick love story And the more I think about it I begin to bend the pieces to fit inside a heart-shaped box made of s**t Listen to yourself and tell me you're not crazy yet When you realize that the missing synonym is a word that objects In a world that uses systematic equations to solve simple relations of the dreary love-sick teenager That got his heart mutilated by Susie the clever Then later, she asks herself why happily ever after hates her Anazyle the climb that defines why Donna scorns karma and why the Dalai Llama has torn a hole in what's supposed to be what makes silly lovers become free And how a simple adjacent line can formulate to rhyme with the walls around it and twist and turn like Chris and burn and bleed Kind of simple if you ask me The way you treat me is what will define me from now and forever in the years to be Take one step in the wrong direction and remember the lies that you'd fail to mention One more step back and its off into the crevice of his holey socks and mattress Just to hear her say "Tommy, I'm coming back today" Sadly, teeth marks on the skin let bacteria settle within them Now Ahley's got a gun to her head, crashed and burned after hearing he was dead One action, in time, produces a crack in the pieces of a tiny hole that is now a heart You can never be so close to somebody without being so far apart The centerfire is cold as the center of gravity unfolds Produces a flower to stand on and hold Right before it breaks off, wilts and begins to mold Never hold on unless you're strong enough to feel the break of dawn before realizing that the sun is gone © 2011 Dylan RhodesFeatured Review
