On Call, Twenty-four Seven

On Call, Twenty-four Seven

A Poem by Deadline

Today as I sat in a place many will never see,
I couldn't help but let my imagination run free.
I saw the people all around as kittens and cats.
It's odd - I know, but I was compelled to see that.
These women and men, professionals working for the government,
Appeared before me cute and cuddly for my amusement.
My friend working on the computer made me laugh aloud -
I just couldn't get these thoughts out!
I drew so much attention to myself, not that I wanted it.
But for a moment I reminded them how easy it was to be a kid.
