Desolate

Desolate

A Poem by Walter Scott Morrison
"

Poem about winter and sorrow

"

Desolate

And still my winter comes,
It’s white veil casting over the fields,
The last of the violet blossoms,
Departing…

And all seems serene,
An ache overwhelms my heart and soul,
And I find that I am alone,
Desolate…

But there is Beauty in isolation,
Like a single white rose blossom,
Glistening in the spring’s morning dew,
Angelic…

And through the snow descending,
The warm golden sun begins to rise,
And all the world awakens to sorrow,
Falling like ashes from heaven’s skies

I loved this.. My consistent feeling was: That is so true.. The wording is precise and the imagery aids the telling of your message. I like the resolute confirming of your feeling without having to use too forceful of a method. I can very much relate to your words here.. I enjoyed the content a lot..

Thanks I will take a look. I've not heard of him but I am a huge Robert Bly and W. B. Yeats fan.
Thanks for actually reading my work. I appreciate it

I enjoy the imagery in this piece. It's simplicity breaths truth. The idea of desolation and loneliness coupled with your word choice reminded me of Rilke for some reason. If you have never read him, I'd suggest you take a look. I think you'd enjoy his work.
