Blessed rain

Blessed rain

A Poem by Deacon Kane
"

Blessed rain was written a long time ago when I still struggled with depression and substance abuse. Those dark times turned into narratives that beg to put into words every so often.

"

Laughter in my head

and I swear I'm thankful,

the rain takes away my dread.
The pain has left me you see

washed away by these raindrops,

I hear my heart stop and I don't care.

Laughter beyond the irony,

hypocrisy,

Lord can you see my way?

Drifting and laughing,
My body trembling and sweating,

I swear I'm thankful,

the sun erases the hidden places,

it takes me to myself

and I left Him in sweet serenity.

Unbidden the sun wrenches me from wealth,

the wealth of solitude and peace,

laughter in my head,
I swear I'm thankful,

blessed rain,

the glass shatters as it lands,

glass syringes and spent cigarettes,

a bottle of Henny in the cabinet,

wasted,
empty,

the pain has left me you see,
that's why I proclaim I love the rain.
They say you chase the dragon,

I see,
I see the dragon in my dreams,

lucid, waking dreams,

glass shatters,

I stagger,
my body sweating,

I can't stop the trembling,

I'm losing all control,

the laughter in my head

but now I notice my throat yearning for relief

all that laughter's coming from my mouth.

You make words dance and play... dark and light mingling through the world around you... So powerfully expressed like a song...
