Just Like A Flower

Just Like A Flower

A Poem by Daytonight
"

A poem comparing the care a woman needs to the care a flower needs.

"
A woman is like a flower
needing a gentle hand
with love and affection
someone to understand.

If it is withheld from her
she'll wither up and die.

Just like a flower searching for water
with roots spread far and wide
a woman needs someone to feed
her soul from the inside.

If only a few drops she gets
she will surely fade away.

As the flower turns its head
looking for the sun
a woman needing love and affection
will seek it from someone.

For locked away in the dark
she's been left for dead.

So please give her
such love so rich and rare
lots of sweet affection too
showing her how much you care.

If not, one day you just might awaken
and find she isn't there.

You so well portray in this metaphor a wonderful vision, while this is sometimes true, women can also be more like a "mighty oak" we can do so much that a man would never be able to survive (why do you think it's women who bear children? Men couldn't handle the pain) :) I've always loved your poetry so glad to find a fellow AP member here. PS don't forget to befriend me.

Truly beautiful to read. There are so many special things about our gentleness and strength that enable us to give and receive love. This is a special poem.

Love,

This works both ways, Love is a tender thing, it needs lots of attention and hard work from both. One doing all the work leave a hole. Beautiful poem, I love to make sure that each and every day my love knows that I am there and show it in as many ways as possible, just because thats me. And because my love has a need to do more. Wonderful poem.

This is the first time I'm reading your poetry....it didn't happen at AP although I was tempted...and yes, I totally agree with your soft words and your gentle thoughts. Women are JUST like your poem describes so well.

very nice and even flow. It almost feels as soft as the subject itself. Good job!

enjoying this lots, some really nice images - and your extended metaphor works well In S2 the roots spreading far and wide show me the thirst of flower, so maybe you could take out the first line?
