The Yoga of King Shivamara IIA Poem by Dayranby Daran
King Shivamara II was born into the Ganga Dynasty In 788 bce, in Manne, the Western Ganges. He is famous for many things, but the key to his fame, Lies in a gift he created. He taught yoga to his people, With a book he published called, the Gaja Sutra, It was the beginning of the Indian experience of yoga. It is the planned design and application of will. They learnt patience, humility and the value of life, Not just theirs, but the content of its precious nature, Perhaps even saving themselves in the process. The King fought many battles but lost his life in the final. They were many stories that were spun about him. That he was a god and together with Sakti were primodial energies In what can only be referred to as a sublime act of faith. Despite this, his endearment has weathered the many trials of faith, Where the devout engage incredible acts of non-attachment, In a revelation of the strength of the human condition, In all matters of the common strength and heritage of man. It may be what prompted the Saivite poet to write the verse, ' Nothing doesn't exist, All is you, You told us, without doing so.' Its a song in praise of Siva, where the proper decorum becomes, ' Who is Siva? ' as we realize that, that which we seek, is us.
