Pumpkin Head

Pumpkin Head

A Poem by Dayran
"

Good and Evil

"

A face like a child with baby fat all around,

Seeks to be looked after and provided for,

A knower of good and bad in life, denying choices,

Yet, pumpkin head can call on the greatest storms,

Both of the happy kind and the willfully wicked.

These days, he comes to be referred as puddinghead,

On account of the sweet nothings he always says.

Sometimes referred to as fruitcake, not in a nice way,

Because of his totally disconnected train of thoughts.

In the pastoral, they call him the bumpkin, a relative.

Was the resourceful Jack in Oz, the finder of answers,

Was the Pasha of Egypt, listening to tales of Alladin,

And then, the Maharaja of Ranikot, the fort of gates.

But most of all, Pumpkin, dreams of unusual experiences,

These are not of the world and he dunno whence they came,

Like aliens with large brainy heads like him, strangers,

Yet making him in touch with the forces of the universe.

Halloween is when we celebrate the strange and mysterious,

Reminding ourselves, it's a lot like us, pumpkins, in trousers.
