The Matter with HimA Poem by DayranEquanimityAs the rain falls with life giving water, Even as the sun shines on the land, He turns his face away, looking grim, The man of men seeks only one thing. The earth puts forth its towering peaks, Was born, the mighty eagle of the skies, But eats he, with a sigh at the table, laden, The sun of men, his eye glows with search.
Though the wheat grows with vigor, And the fruits ripen into orangey red, Yet he stood patiently for stainless joy, He, the protector of women, waits. Was offered wealth, in a kingly realm, Pleasures galore, a wishful dream, But he took them to task, in their hearts, For his craving was not yet being. They called him Poseidon of the seas, So calm, his poise taught all to see, The kingdom of the self still in need, Of equality, equality, equality. © 2011 DayranReviews
