Dion's Theater

Dion's Theater

A Poem by Dayran
"

The world's a stage

"

At this time in our lives, the theater begins with a death.

A man of truth kills ignorance, like a lion kills the weak,

The way a stormy forest fire renews life in the wild.

But even the weak have a preserver, who seeks justice,

He causes the demise of such a champion of common sense.

The world mourns the death of one who spoke frankly,

Who said it as it is. But alas, it doesn't bring him back.

But as the world descends into chaos, the wives of both men

Hatch a grand plan to turn the mess into a hoax .

They hide the details under the pillow and dream a replacement.

Our hero, distressed at what he sees are lies everywhere,

Embarks on a journey of self-discovery and uncovers the facts,

He speaks again as it is, and points to a new truth,

A bolder, factual and to-the-point attitude emerges,

It persuades the man to accept his death as nature's intent,

In it, he meets his father again, understands the death of the weak,

And prepares for his own old age, which he accepts with grace.

The knowledge of the eternal substitutes for an eternal life,

Time enough for eternity when the whole world is free.

As an "actor" I must say, I enjoyed this immensely. It's a wonderful description of the theatre of life, for "All the world's a stage, and we are merely players."

It is all about division. The survival of the fittest. And to be the weaker vessel in some cultures can mean certain death...or to be in survitude for life.

This is my kind of poem, one with philosophical substance, something socratic and with traces of a higher intuition.

Some lines stood out for me:

1. A man of truth kills ignorance, like a lion kills the weak
2. Time enough for eternity when the whole world is free
3. It persuades the man to accept his death as nature's intent

I value the quality of your inherent consciousness.
