Home Grown Star

Home Grown Star

A Poem by Dayran
"

A star is born on earth

"

No name, no fame, not even a hint of glory,

The earth star takes its place among the heavens.

No fear, no regret and no hidden remorse,

Blames nothing and doesn't allow any to blame him.

The work of life and the way, he says, smiling thinly.

Had thought the milky way was the just universe,

That the sun was the friend of Sirius, the brightest.

Came to find, that its Canopus, not Sirius, but alas!

The fall that came to pass was refreshing and a fine thing!

Had nothing bad to say about it, didn't think himself worthy,

But after two world wars, he came to understand it,

That a symbol is something we live up to, not imbue,

So the man flies again, on the wings of his reborn star,

Five points of virtue in a circle of friends in the world,

All equal, none standing on ceremony for the other,

He'll not walk alone anymore, for he is truly a star,

Born right here on earth, man-made, endeared by all.
