The Art of the Possible

"

There's a glorious b*****d I used to know,

Come to think of it, I was born with him.

Would do anything once, and if he was still alive,

Would go on to look at what else he hadn't done before.

A great friend when you needed a hand,

However, wouldn't concern himself with the ethics.

Held all the promises of Mother and the heavens above,

Didn't care much for accountability or the purpose of it,

Just had fun with it, I guess. Well, he had a stumble, one day,

Then his pursuers caught up with him and hung him to dry.

I was the witness and I realized I had to do something,

So I dug in and learnt, everyday and everything, for 25 years.

We travelled the world together, from Machu Pichu to the Kremlin,

Thereafter, the early days of civilization to the glorious American sea.

What can I say? I learnt to save my own life,

For if our dreams and hopes are revealed, we'd all be criminals.

* Carl Jung identifies the persona as the shadow.
