A Lear

A Lear

A Poem by Dayran
"

An old mime

"

I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living. It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope, which is what I do. And that enables you to laugh at life's realities.” - Theodor Seuss Geisel ( 1904 - 1991 )

Wait, wait, wait, listen, listen, listen,

'Chickens are made in the supermarket!'

' McDonald's is a Malaysian company.'

Wait, wait, wait, listen, listen,

'We could have done the industrial revolution ourselves.

A knife can be used to stab an enemy or a friend.'

Wait, wait, wait, listen,

'I'm saying God has special powers,

He can travel to heaven and back.'

Wait, wait, wait,

' Do a marketing research to find customer needs?

That kind of thing doesn't work and it wastes money.'

Wait, wait,

' I'm Lear, my daughters chased me away,

So it's their fault. '

Wait,

' I'm not a crook.'

nonsense and absurdism are two of my favorite things in poetry and literature. I like this piece for those reasons. Also, because I'm a fan of King Lear. Have you read "Fool" by Christopher Moore? You may enjoy it.
