Mars

Mars

A Poem by Dayran
"

The Manager

"

There's a busy one I know

Who reflects on being, like a shark.

Moving, so it can breathe,

A mind, that resembles its teeth.

Suspects that he's not much social company,

Creates an avoidance, a pretense even

Of a muddy pool in school, they call a schmuck.

If you get to know him, you'll find him cool,

Figures he shouldn't show himself more,

Or he'll be like a Swift in Lilliput.

Works like a dynamo and wonders about it,

Fears his humanity getting hit, on account of it.

The lady, Lee, wrote a book about it,

But, it was about mocking birds, not it.

So here's to the fella, long may it be,

And here's hoping it's learnt to take its bows,

Where they might be.

allusions to classics like gulliver's travels and to kill a mocking bird, somewhere the poem moves on to a higher plane i suspect

An odd little work; one which is fairly clear of reference, and yet, whose overall meaning escapes me--at least, as to who this hiding giant might be and why you're bothering to tell us about him. Unless. of course, our man with a steel-trap-like mind--who sometimes encourages his being perceived as a quite average--works efficiently with ease and has a quality once described by Harper Lee, is someone we wouldn't know. ("It"--killing?)
Don't see any clear connection between Mars, The Manager" and a Native American warrior, however. ("War," for example doesn't quite fit them all.)
Whatever the case, Sri, I enjoyed almost understanding your well-crafted, undeniably fascinating poem.

Sounds like an interesting one, this man.
At least he's learnt to take his bows.

I liked it. Can't really explain why, but I did... I'm curious about the why of the title and the pic though..
